WHAT WILL BE COVERED
The workshop will consist of five classes covering a variety of topics:
- Frictions and Knots. Whether you’re ready to move beyond single column classes, looking for a better understanding of what you’re tying, or want a refresher course... this class is for you. Frictions and knots serve many purposes and some fit certain needs better than others. In this class we will explore the purpose and function of many of the frictions and knots we use in our ties, including half hitches, munters, full turns, L-frictions and half moons. A basic, single column class is recommended prior to this class. There is no suspension of any kind in this class.
- Playing with Tension. Tension is an ongoing skill that requires practice. This class uses a hip harness and a hishi chest harness to not only give you something to practice but demonstrate the importance of good tension.
- Starting Pretty. Everyone loves the beautiful aesthetics of rope, be it for photos or for private, and this class is the perfect place to start learning. We begin with a simple chest harness, which helps to teach some basic knots and frictions, followed by a mermaid tie, which becomes a lesson in tension. Both these ties can be done by anyone and are easy to add personal variations to. These ties don’t require any prior rope experience. No mandatory single column needed to make these beautiful creations and both ties are suitable for female and male bottoms or even as a self-tie. No rope, no problem- extra rope will be provided. Suitable for all levels. The harnesses taught in this class are not intended for suspension.
- Futos - Clean and Dirty. Learn what it takes to build a futomomo; from the fundamentals to how to make it safe for suspension. Learn two styles and why each would be used.
- Thigh Harness. Why do we tie the things we tie? In this class, let’s forget about patterns. Instead, we’ll start by asking what we want our thigh harnesses to do once we suspend. Depending on what the class wants their harnesses to do, we’ll figure out what components we want to include and start building our harnesses. Recommended – “Fundamentals – Frictions and Knots.” Participants wanting to load the harnesses should also have solid up-line management skills.
ABOUT THE PRESENTER
Miss Acacia has been creating art in rope bondage and suspension since 2014. With a preference for symmetry and a focus on detail, her goal is to create a tie that works for her bottom’s body while still showcasing the beauty of rope. Starting with self-suspension, she progressed to suspending others with an understanding of both sides of the suspension experience. She continues to focus on the fundamentals no matter how far her rope journey takes her, because she wants to understand the how and the why behind the structure of each tie. Once she feels she understands the purpose of each part, she is able to use them to transition and contort her bottom with the right ties for that sequence. She is frequently brainstorming with fellow rope enthusiasts to improve harnesses and make the most sustainable ties for her bottoms. In teaching, she focuses on making sure that bottoms and tops both grasp what the rope should look and feel like. She teaches for understanding of how each part and pattern works instead of memorizing patterns so that her students are better equipped to continue their education.
