Bootblacking 101 - 5/7

Have you ever wondered why people keep talking about Leather at kink events? How people are always showing off their shiny leather boots and clothing? Got a new flogger that you are unsure how to care for? Or just realizing your daily wear shoes/boots are taking a harsh beating to the elements?

In this class you will learn "Bootblacking 101" intro to leather care. We will go over common types of leather, the different materials to care for each, and quick tips and tricks for taking your well loved gear and making it look like new.

There will be a hands-on practice portion to the class (see Leather Care Kits below). As well as a couple of brief demos, one of event stand style Bootblacking, and another of a more intimate boot care/worship scene.

.You can enjoy this class on your own or with a partner. Tops and bottoms alike can all learn from this class.

Prerequisites: none

Materials required: a pair of leather boots or shoes you want to practice on.

Optional materials: If you want feel free to bring one pair of "oil tan" such as a pair of non-shiny docs as an example, anything you look at it and say "this doesn't seem like it's meant to be shiny" and one pair of "high-shine" shoes such as fancy dress shoes or parade combat boots with the defined toe area for polish.  This is optional, I will have some of both available for practice as well.

Leather Care Kits

If you have your own leather care supplies, you are welcome to bring them. If you are brand new to bootblacking, we can offer you the opportunity to preorder a complete leather care kit for $25. Simply buy the ticket that includes this option and your kit will be available at the class.

About the Presenters

 Britt (they/ their) is a service slut, maker, nerd, and 'oh hey squirrel!'. Britt is a disabled, nuerodivergant being with a passion for rope and leather. They have been shining shoes since their padawan years, and their love of leather has only grown since. Using their knowledge of leather care they turned to leather crafting to fuel their love of great costuming at LARP.

Coming into the kink community in 2015 led them to discover the world of Leather and Bootblacking. Sitting in the chair at a stand at an event having their boots serviced, they knew immediately they found their home -- and it involved being on the other side of the chair.

When they aren't fawning over someone's leather you can find them spinning upside-down in the air in rope, or blissed out under the ministrations of someone's fists and other implements

They are always happy to talk about their work and would love to share a taste of that joy with you.
